A journey through the promises and person of Christ

Advent invites us to remember God’s promises, recognize His presence, and look toward the fulfillment still to come. It also meets us in ordinary life, with unanswered questions, demanding responsibilities, moments of gratitude, and seasons of grief.

In this forty-day journey, Jim Erwin moves from the promises of the Old Testament to the identity and saving work of Jesus, then returns to Bethlehem with a fuller understanding of the Savior whose birth we celebrate. The aim is to connect what you read with the way you trust, serve, and love.

What each day includes

The repeated rhythm gives you a way to pause, consider the passage, and respond. You can reflect quietly, keep a separate journal, or record notes where your Kindle app or device supports them.

Who this devotional is for

This book is for readers who want to give renewed attention to Christ through a daily pattern of Scripture and prayer. It offers a way to approach the Christmas season thoughtfully, while making room for the realities of everyday life.

You can use the journey during Advent and the Christmas season, or at another time when you want to reflect on Christ’s coming. The forty-day format gives you a sequence to follow without requiring you to begin on a particular calendar date.
